The Smartphone That Will BLOW Your Mind

The Motorola Edge Plus

Thoughts on the Motorola Edge Plus:

Motorola launched its first Flagship phone in years. This phone is right in line with the other flagships in the market that are the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The key tagline Motorola used for this phone is the 'World's Fastest 5G Phone'.

How much does the Motorola Edge Plus cost?

The phone starts at $999! In India, you can expect the price of this phone to be around Rs. 76,490, and in Bangladesh, you can expect it to be around 84913 BDT. Yes, it is right beside all the other flagship phones out there in the market right now.

I do not know if it is a good thing for the company but I do feel the phone is a bit pricey keeping in mind that not a lot of people have bought Motorola phones in recent years.

1. The Display

The Display

The display is a 6.7" OLED display. With the resolution of 1080*2340 pixels. The display has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and the phone feels super snappy. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone has an aspect ratio of 21:9 that is why the phone does not feel huge.

Motorola says that the display curves almost 90 degrees and that is why the phone is called the Motorola Edge Plus

The phone has a feature to light up the edge display when the phone is upside down. This happens when you have notification coming. Even when you charge the phone the edge display lights up to give a cool animation.

If you double-tap on the edge it can turn On/Off the edge display for you. There are of course other features that will help you to switch between apps

2. 5G

As I mentioned the Motorola Edge Plus is 5G capable. It works both on sub-6 an mmWave frequencies.

This is not new but in the USA only some regions have this privilege and only Verizon is selling it. Verizon already has mmWave frequency and they said by the end of 2020 they will also add sub-6 frequencies too.

This means the phones that are sold elsewhere will have more feasibility when connecting to next-generation networks.

3. Camera

Camera cutout

It feels like Motorola went full throttle in the Camera department. The primary sensor is a massive 108 MP camera with an aperture of f/1.8 with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The telephoto lens is an 8 MP camera with f/2.4 with 3x Optical zoom. The ultrawide camera is quite interesting because you can get super close to subjects to take macro photographs. The Ultrawide lens is a 16 MP lens with an aperture of f/2.2.

The main shooter can take 6K UHD videos. This is one of the rare times we have seen a video setting between 4k and 8k. Motorola says pause a 6K video recording and you can get a 24 MP still image, impressive right?

You can still take 4K 30 fps videos and 1080p @ up to 120 fps.

The selfie camera is a hole-punch camera on the top left which is a 25 MP lens with an aperture of f/2.0. This camera is quite good with typical Motorola color accuracies. This camera uses pixel-binning.

4. The Battery

The Motorola Edge Plus has a 5000 mAh battery and since the phone's resolution is set at FHD and the refresh rate is 90 HZ you can expect a good amount of battery from this phone.

You can fast charge this phone at only 15W as well as wirelessly charge the phone at 15 W too if your wireless charger supports that.

The Motorola Edge Plus can also do reverse wireless charging.

5. The Specifications

the Motorola Edge Plus comes in with Android 10, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 865, and 12GB of RAM. Up to 256 GB of internal storage. Moreover, this phone has a headphone jack.

Conclusion

The phone has a bright display which is good. It has the 3.5mm headphone jack also good. Sub-6 and mmWave frequency 5G connectivity which is the best.

But I feel the phone is too pricey for what we are getting. The phone is thicker than most other flagship phones out there. Also, the display is not as sharp as it could get or other flagships are offering.
